LeftLevel is an open initiative for resilient private communication.
The project documents ideas, prototypes, and review paths for communication systems that give people more control over identity, routing, and trust.
Why the name
The name reflects earlier decisions and clearer layers.
Communication systems often depend on assumptions people cannot see: a platform stays online, a provider behaves well, keys are handled correctly, and metadata remains harmless. LeftLevel brings those assumptions into the design process.
“Left” points to earlier architectural decisions. “Level” points to understandable layers that can be documented, reviewed, replaced, and improved over time.

Security language matters. LeftLevel does not present security as a guarantee. The project uses documentation, review, and careful scope to make claims understandable.
